MapleStory Classic Classes: Four First Jobs & Second-Job Paths
Compare Warrior, Magician, Bowman and Thief, find each instructor, and see the ten second-job paths confirmed for Global Classic World.

Your first job is available at level 10; the second advancement is at level 30. Nexon's launch notes give the same first-job level for all four routes, including Magician. Do not use the old level-8 Magician rule here.
Warrior
Train under Dances with Balrog in Perion. Choose this route for close-range physical combat. STR is the main attribute; equipment requirements and accuracy influence secondary points. At level 30 the branches are Fighter, Page and Spearman. See the Warrior starting guide.
Magician
Visit Grendel the Really Old in Ellinia. INT supports this ranged magic route, and MP management is central to early sessions. Second-job choices are Wizard (Fire/Poison), Wizard (Ice/Lightning) and Cleric. The Magician guide compares early attack and defense choices.
Bowman
Speak to Athena Pierce in Henesys. This is the ranged physical route built around DEX. The second-job options are Hunter and Crossbowman. Choose with the weapon path you prefer in mind; this page is not a tested damage ranking.
Thief
Speak to Dark Lord in Kerning City. LUK is the main attribute. Your later choice is Assassin or Bandit, so consider the claw and dagger paths before spending resources on equipment.
Choose for your first sessions
Compare range, potion use, equipment cost and the group you actually play with. A class that suits your friends and preferred combat can be a better choice than a ranking made for another server. Use the stat guide before committing AP.
For practical first-skill choices, see the Bowman introduction and Thief introduction.
What this comparison covers
The launch level cap is 100. This page describes the first and second advancements in the official launch notes. It does not turn an eventual third-job branch, a test-client skill or a modern MapleStory class into launch content.
