MapleStory Classic Stat Guide: AP, SP & Early Allocation
Understand AP versus SP, each class’s main stat and how equipment requirements affect your next points in Global Classic World.
AP changes attributes; SP raises skills. Plan both around the class you will play, not around an old guide's fixed ratio. Community launch references report five AP per level and no AP reset at first advancement.
Which stat belongs to your class?
| First job | Main attribute | What to check next |
|---|---|---|
| Warrior | STR | Total DEX required by the next weapon and your actual hit rate |
| Magician | INT | Total LUK required by the equipment you intend to use |
| Bowman | DEX | STR requirements on the chosen bow or crossbow |
| Thief | LUK | DEX requirements and your dagger or claw route |
The main-stat directions come from current community guides. They are not a universal endgame formula. Total attributes include equipment bonuses; base attributes are the points on your character before those bonuses.
A practical AP decision
- Choose the next weapon or armor you can realistically obtain.
- Read its requirements in the current client.
- Count equipment bonuses you already have, rather than bonuses you hope to find.
- Add only the secondary points needed for that plan; direct the remaining points toward the main stat.
Before level 10, the community beginner recommendation is to prioritize your future job's main stat. Do not assume becoming a Magician will refund points spent on STR.
Plan SP separately
Read skill prerequisites, level caps and resource costs. A stronger attack that does not reduce the hits needed on your current monster may simply cost more MP. Warrior priorities and Magician choices explain the early trade-offs.
Before resetting anything
AP Reset and SP Reset are different items. Check what the current Cash Shop item actually resets and its displayed cost before purchasing. A reset does not change your chosen job route. We do not publish a universal level-by-level optimum or copy the old pre-Big-Bang HP-growth build into Classic World.
