For early Bronze Ore, start with Stumps or Orange Mushrooms; at level 14, check Shane's How to Enjoy Mushrooms quest for a listed reward of five ore. These sources come from current community references, not guaranteed drops per kill.

Choose a source for your level

SourceListed levelWhen to consider it
Stump5Early gathering while completing related tasks
Orange Mushroom8An alternative if Stump maps are crowded
Snail1A fallback, not a promised fast route
Horny Mushroom22Later progression; unnecessary danger for a new character
How to Enjoy Mushrooms14Check Shane's quest for a five-ore reward

Search the current world map for the monster and compare travel time with a nearby alternative. Stay on a map where you can finish kills reliably without burning the value of the ore in potions. The community drop samples do not justify a guaranteed number of kills or a precise farming duration.

Keep ore for the apprentice quest

Silas Irons in Need of an Apprentice is listed at level 10 and asks for five Bronze Ore. Reserve those raw ores before refining your whole stack. Bronze Ore and Bronze Ingot are different items; an ingot does not satisfy a request for ore.

Make Bronze Ingots

The current crafting reference lists five Bronze Ore plus 100 mesos → one Bronze Ingot, at Smithing level 1. Open the recipe at the Smithing NPC and check the displayed materials before confirming. For two ingots, that reference recipe implies ten ore and 200 mesos; add any ore you still need to hand in separately.

Farm or buy?

Compare the price of five raw ores plus the crafting fee with the price of one finished ingot. Only compare identical items and quantities. A seller's asking price is not proof of a completed sale. If your goal is the apprentice quest, buying an ingot instead of ore does not solve it.

For red gems, use the separate Garnet Ore and Garnet guide; gem refining uses a different profession and recipe.
